Our Expedition Holdalls are perfect for carrying large amounts of gear around as the RF-welded, watertight seams ensure your gear is kept dry.
The Blaze Expedition Holdall is made from durable 500D PVC tarpaulin and features an internal zipped net pocket to help separate your gear. It also features four webbing loop rows to help you tie it down if you want to use it on your motorbike. You can carry it either like a holdall or a rucksack, making it a versatile way of transporting your skiing, watersports or adventure equipment.
When compared to our roll-top holdalls, which can cope with brief, total immersions, the Blaze Expedition Holdall is not quite as dry. This holdall was designed to provide easy access to your gear and so features a wide opening with a zip closure. However, the only problem with zips is that, unless we use a dryzip which would triple the cost of the bag, they are really only splash proof.
Similar bags produced by competitors also use splashproof zips rather than dryzips. What sets the Blaze Expedition Holdall apart from these bags is the use of RF-welded dry seams which make this bag much drier. Water won’t come through the seams of this bag but some may come through the zip if its completely immersed or if a persistent stream of water is poured over it.
If it’s raining and the bag is flat on the ground then the zip flap should allow the water to flow past the zip keeping the contents dry. If used in rucksack mode, persistent rain may make its way through the zip closure.
People frequently use this type of bag to take their gear on skiing holidays. They leave them down on the slushy wet road and the water comes up through the seams. Not with this bag!
