Our range of ultralight drybags made from waterproof materials.

Ultralight Dry Bags

Our ultralight dry bags are design to be waterproof and light to carry. They can be used to keep your kit dry in a variety of situations. The sizes of our ultralight dry bag range start at below 1L and go right up to 150L. Some of these are made from ultralight materials which can be seen on this page.

Ultralight dry bag materials

Ultralight dry bags tend to be made from coated fabrics as opposed to solid fabrics like PVC. These coated fabrics can be polyester or nylon and can be sewn together then taped at the seams. We also have some lightweight TPU materials that can be combined with fabrics then welded together at the seams for a strong watertight finish.

Uses for ultralight dry Bags

Ultralight dry bags are most useful where weight is a large factor. This tends to be when a person is carrying all their kit whilst trekking, hill walking, mountaineering or on other types of long range walk. Many people carefully plan the weight of their backpack and try to shave off extra grams from very part of their kit in the knowledge that all those grams can add up to a saving of several kilograms off the weight of their pack.

The thin materials used in ultralight dry bags are not as tough or as resistant to abrasion as thicker heavy duty dry bags and this should be born in mind when using them. Most of the time an ultralight dry bag will be used inside a larger bag such as a rucksack where they perform 2 different roles. Firstly they will keep your gear dry if your large bag leaks. Secondly they will help you separate your gear into different categories such as underwear, wet gear, first aid etc. and in that situation you are using them as lightweight packing cubes to help your camp admin.

Ultralight rucksacks

Ultralight rucksacks are popular with people trying to keep the overall weight of their kit to a minimum. Fans of ultralight gear will plan carefully the weight of each part of the kit they carry and where better a place to start then the rucksack you will carry it all it. Care should be taken when selecting an ultralight rucksack that it is sufficiently strong for the load it is designed to carry. Thin, ultralight materials may also be more prone to being snagged or ripped so there is a trade off between durability and weight that needs to be taken into consideration.
