Surfer Mathew Visits Lomo

Surfer Mathew Bryce In Lomo

32 Hours on a Surfboard!

Matthew was rescued by a coastguard helicopter after spending 32 hours floating on his surfboard. He was swept out to sea by strong winds and tide on Sunday morning and was eventually located on Monday evening at 19:30.

He told Bruce that he did not believe he would make it through a second night due to the extreme cold and dehydration. When the helicopter flew over him, Matthew thought they hadn’t seen him and feared the worst. Just then the helicopter turned around and returned to his location. He cannot describe his feelings at this point.

Bruce was more than happy to replace his Lomo wetsuit and gloves which were cut off by the coastguard when they found him.

Matthew cannot thank the RNLI and Coastguard enough for all their efforts in locating him.
