KIT REVIEW: Lomo Prime Wetsuit
Reviewed by Heather
FEATURES
The Lomo Prime is a triathlon and swimming wetsuit, and has three different thicknesses of neoprene across the wetsuit – 4mm on the front panel, 3mm on the back and 2mm on the arms underarms. This aims to give you the warmth where you need it most whilst also giving you freedom of motion.
SIZE AND FIT
I tested the Medium Wide C which according to the size chart is suitable for a height of 5’6″ – 5’8″, chest of 53-56″ and waist 47-51″. I’m a 50″ bust and 45″ waist (and 57″ hip) and it fit me, but I would say it is more suited to someone who carries their weight on their torso. I carry more of my weight on my hips/bum/legs and I struggled a bit getting it over my legs and bum (I have 35″ thigh). I also think there is more room in the chest area for someone bustier than myself! The wetsuit is currently available in short wide A-C and medium wide A-C fits (with the C being the largest).
PERFORMANCE
Once I had it on, I could swim in it pretty well without feeling too restricted (although I haven’t yet done any longer swims in it). I tried it for the first time in a very chilly Windermere in March and the fact it made the very icy water bearable, is an excellent testament to its functionality as a wetsuit! It’s also a very reasonable price in terms of wetsuits which, given the limited range of wetsuits at larger sizes, is fantastic.
